The Perfect Apple Crisp

The Perfect Apple Crisp

Apple crisp is one of those desserts that’s so simple, but so delicious. You’re also getting in a good amount of dense nutrients (oats, apples, cinnamon) while having a treat, which is a win in my books

There’s a bunch of recipes out there, and this is my version. Yes I’m a nutritionist, and yes my recipe uses butter. But I’m also realistic, and like things that taste good!

You can totally swap out the butter for something else, but if you don’t need to..why would you? In my books, having a moderate amount of the real thing is WAY better than a lot of something considered “healthier”. Sure, don’t eat a bunch of butter at every meal, every day. But having a little bit in this recipe is not an issue, to me at least.

As an avid lover of the crisp part of apple crisp, I wanted to make sure there was enough crisp, but not too much that it felt like I was having a few apples with my crumble topping.

*Note: I LOVE cinnamon. So does my partner. So this recipe features a good amount of this warming spice, because we often find other recipes just don’t have enough. That being said, feel free to reduce the amount of ground cinnamon if you’re not as into it as we are.

As always, I love to see your versions of my creations! Tag me at @dev_carlsen on insta so I can drool over your versions!

Happy Cooking!
